2015 Year End and New Beginnings

2015 Year End and New Beginnings

It's been a bit since I’ve had the time to sit, reflect, and write down my thoughts, and that’s a good and bad thing. Good in that SO much has been going on and bad in that I’ve not had time for me. Time to remedy that “me time”.

2015, holy crap, 2015! Perhaps arrogant to say this but I kicked ass in 2015. I pushed my company, Spellcast Entertainment, into gear, secured a partnership with BMG Music for all the songs necessary for my first musical Shakespeare (Remix) (more details to come on this), fundraised for my first show through an IndieGoGo campaign, and produced my first Fatheads Improv show Star Search Rewind—all the while working a full-time, not really full of free time Professor job. I did it though!

And after my first show closed and the school quarter ended in November, I crashed HARD; the kind of hard where you sleep for days. I needed it, more so because in spite of all the highs, 2015 gave me my lowest low ever. My father passed away suddenly in June and I threw myself into my work so I didn’t have to think about it. So I needed to take the time to process this monumental loss and grieve. It has been rough but I’m so thankful I gave myself the time and space to process everything.

Coming out the other side I’m poised to tackle 2016 in the Bamber-est way possible: by packing my bags and taking off on a new adventure. I’ve already alerted my job I won’t be returning after the school year (last day June 2) and though I’m not sure where I’ll end up, I know it will be to a theatre-supportive/collaborative environment and its people.

WTH you say? What about Spellcast Entertainment and all your plans? No worries. All my plans are still active; they were always flexible for location change. The next step demands investors and a supportive environment, so I’ll ensure wherever I land those have been factored in.

Mr. Walt Disney once said of his success, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” And I’m continuing to be curious, opening new doors, doing new things, and striking out on new paths. So cheers to 2016 and its new beginnings!
